Nightclub bouncer shot by armed patron
Tonight four men are charged with Attempted Murder and related offences following a shooting at a Belize City nightclub over the weekend. The accused are twenty-nine year old Darren Banks, twenty-one year old Austin Roland, twenty-two year old Dillon Bennett and twenty-three year old Steve Zelaya. Police believe that the foursome was trying to get into the Caesar’s Palace Nightclub around two thirty on Saturday morning but met resistance in the form of forty-three year old bouncer, Glenford Logan. A fight ensued between Logan and the men but it ended dramatically when someone pulled out a gun and fired a single shot that hit Logan in the left side of the chest. The security guard underwent surgery to treat the injury and tonight he is in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital under police guard. Banks, Roland, Bennett and Zelaya appeared in court today where they were formally charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Causing Dangerous Harm, Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Robbery. The men were denied bail and have been ordered to return to court on January thirty-first.
