Man who was shot 4 times loses memory at trial
Over at the Supreme Court, two men walked from charges of Attempted Murder. The victim, Elton Bradley, was shot four times on May twenty-ninth, 2009 and because one of the bullets was lodged near his spinal cord, he was almost paralyzed. But today Bradley walked into court and chose not to testify, saying that he did not remember what happened on the night he was almost killed. Prosecutor Sharmilla Williams then closed her case since there was no other evidence against twenty-four year old Brandon Tillett and twenty-six year old Knox Cumberbatch.
Justice Adolph Lucas directed the jury to find the men not guilty, but Cumberbatch was not free to go since he is on remand at the Belize Central Prison awaiting trial for murder. Bradley was ambushed by two men on bicycles, who opened fire on him at the corner of Bishop and West Streets. The initial prognosis was dismal, and but after several weeks in the hospital he was well enough to go home.
