Chamber meets to draft resolution on its position on government’s method of acquisition
At news time tonight, the Belize Chamber of Commerce is meeting to consider a draft resolution on the Chamber’s position in regards to the business climate in Belize, the method of government’s acquisition and the rule of law. The resolution is under discussion by its membership and while it’s yet to be approved, it calls on the government to uphold the rule of law and to desist from taking actions that offend the principle of separation of powers. The membership is also considering the compulsory acquisition of private property and points to specific conditions when acquisition is carried out. We’ll have more on this in Thursday’s newscast.
