Argument at gas station followed by shooting

A popular seaweed vendor escaped death when he was shot in the back of the head on Friday night. Police say Clement Palacio, also known as “Papa Roots”, was shot while driving from Belize City on the Western Highway around midnight on Friday. It is believed that the gunshot was fired following an argument between an occupant of Palacio’s vehicle and a man who was in a Toyota Camry at the Shell One Stop gas station at the Western Roundabout. Police say that while on their way towards Hattieville the four occupants of Palacio’s vehicle observed that the same Camry seemed to be following them. When they reached the corner of the Western Highway and Faber’s Road, they heard gunshots which shattered the rear windshield of Palacio’s grey Mercedes Benz. Palacio’s injury was not life-threatening and he was treated and released from the K.H.M.H. No arrests have yet been made.
