But United Cane Farmers Association left out of Bank meeting
But the United Cane Farmers Association, which won a court ruling in favor of separation from Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association (BSFCA), says that they have not had any discussions with the PM nor have they been invited to meet with the bank.
Via Phone: Wilfredo ‘Willie’ Magana, Chairman, United Cane Farmers Association
“I had mentioned, I think we had sent a letter to the Prime Minister concerning the industry. We have not met with the Prime Minister. We were hoping that at some point he would give us some kind of invitation to meet with him. There has been a ruling of freedom of association by the Supreme Court and that is being overlooked. What we are saying here is that there has been a merger between the united cane farmers and the Corozal producers association and between the two groups we control thirty percent of the production. We don’t see good faith in this because he said there is going to be a meeting on Friday with cane farmers. We are cane farmers; we control thirty percent of the production. And like I said, the disrespect for our organization continues and we really want to know what happen. So we have contacted our legal advisor, our lawyer, and I think tomorrow we will write a letter to the Prime Minister again to ask him what is happening and why our group, since we are cane farmers, is not being involved in this process. We believe that we are a part of the process and therefore they are to respect us as such noh. We are meeting because this is a very disrespectful thing to us. Our case has been in there for years so it’s not like they don’t know about us and so that is why we are meeting today because we are going to make a decision as to what we are going to do tomorrow.”
Then there is the Employees Trust which is made up of B.S.I. workers who own majority shares. They have not gone public on whether or not they agree to sell.

Our cane farmers are not stupid but like all of us we elect people to represent our interest but lo and behold, Rod, the people elected many times represent themselves. I wonder what would you do if you were elected Prime Minister? In my opinion, the Prime Minister is trying but he is not receiving enough support from his ministers and area representatives. I guess, that Marcel Cardona could have been smarter in stating his opinion and would have contributed to the Prime Minister or the UDP mission but when you blatantly criticize you not only make a fool of yourself but of your team. Remember that if your house leaks patch it do not broadcast it. I hope that cabinet have more like Marcel: outspoken but smart.
Let me give you a suggestion, stop wasting your energy in hateful remarks put your energy into something that will advocate for betterment with action. I will be with you but to hear all the Rods complaining is not garnering support for yourself or for your great ideas. Let us do something great like what Nigel Petillo is doing. He is not only talking the talk but walking the walk.
looks like what dean oliver barrow says someting he will go with it no” MATTA WHAT “,we the people gave him the power/our vote to take our country to proseprity but looks like we are going to HELLLLLLLLL,with a dictator government like dean barrow we no moving forward as a country.Well, well the last cane farmers riot when the cane farmers’ hero was murdered by the Belize security forces ordered by dean barrow,he dean barrow said it personal, the media, radio stations should have a record of it he said “IF I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN! I WILL DO IT AGAIN! THAT IS NOT’ MY’ INDUSTRY I REPEAT THAT IS NOT MY INDUSTRY “……Those were words from dictator dean barrow ,he was meaning if he had to send the security forces to remove and even to kill he will do it again ,although he also said he did NOT CARE for the sugar industry.he is the devil in person.please cane farmers lets continue to fight for what is rightfully ours, and for the future generations of Belize.
Don,t you get it the PM doesnt have to obey any court rulings. He is above the law…..
