SMART says 3G! But P.U.C. and Telemedia still no deal

Standard interconnectivity between Smart and Telemedia remains in limbo tonight despite a Supreme Court order at the end of March for both companies to establish new terms and conditions for the use of shared infrastructure.  Failure to reach an amicable agreement meant that the Public Utilities Commission would step in to mediate the ongoing dispute by introducing its own solutions.  On Wednesday, the P.U.C. informed both parties that the agreements were completed and were on schedule to be delivered the following day.  Instead of delivering on its promise, the P.U.C. instead advised that it is “revising and preparing the full suite of documents including terms and conditions that will be imposed. As soon as these documents are completed they will be submitted to you. In a press release issued today by Smart, the company says that the statement offers no clear indication when the orders will be issued.  The release goes on to say that the company is very disappointed by the latest development because the P.U.C. in effect, will further delay the launch of Smart’s new third generation or 3G network.  Until the matter is resolved, the company cannot provide full service to its customers on its new network.

@British Belizean: These protocols determine the amount of digital data and the speed at which it can be transferred. Most of the world is either moving on to or preparing to move on to 4G. Actually other things are already in the works.
