Prime Minister’s letter to the people on 9th Amendment to constitution

Late this evening the Prime Minister’s Office sent a letter to the people of Belize to clarify the government’s position on the Constitution (Ninth Amendment) Act 2011. The letter from PM Dean Barrow referred to court cases in Ireland and India to make clear certain points. It says “The Constitution of Belize, in section sixty-nine, sets out exhaustively the manner in which the Constitution can be altered. Nowhere in the Constitution is any power given to the courts to add a further requirement, such as a referendum. Therefore, when ex-Chief Justice Conteh did so in the Barry Bowen land case, he was quite wrong. And the Privy Council refused to follow him in the Vellos case. There is no limit on the power of the National Assembly to amend the Constitution, once the National Assembly acts in accordance with section sixty-nine. And the Courts should have no power to strike down amendments properly passed under section sixty-nine. The ninth Amendment is only spelling out the law as it currently is in Belize and every other Constitutional Democracy in the world, except for India. The 9th Amendment Bill does not stop any citizen from going to court. And the campaigning Lawyers know this. From my time in lower primary school, and I am a senior now, I remember a story: There was once a little boy who would go down to the river to swim and then would start shouting; I AM DROWNING!. HELP! HELP!. The people would drop whatever they would be doing and would rush to the river to help the poor drowning little boy; just to find the little boy laughing and teasing them because he was not drowning. He did this many times until he did it one time toooo much. One day he was truely and indeed drowning. He cried: HELP!, HELP! I AM DROWNING!, I AM DROWNING!, PLEASE!, HELP!, HELP ME PLEASE! but, no one came to help and the little boy drowned to the bottom of the river fu tru. Why?; BECAUSE THE PEOPLE DID NOT BELIEVE HIM!. Why?, BECAUSE HE HAD LIED TO THE PEOPLE SOOOO MANY TIMES. This Prime Minister has lied to us toooo many times that we do not believe him anymore.
Barrow likes to play with words, so be careful! If one can challenge the court but the power of the National Assembly is unlimited, so what is the use of going to court, if the cabinet is above the law? It is just a waste of time and money. What do you think?
In the next general election, Belizeans must choose a system of direct democracy and by-pass the current two party system. Belize has a very small population, we have or can obtain the technology,and we can save Belize from the present system of corruption, get rid of Barrow and Heredia, clear the land Castro, and all the other parasites. With this direct democracy approach,we will elect Independentswho will do the rational requests of their constituents on pre-approved format. In this manner, we will be able to reduce taxes and know what taxes to levy to perform the work of the people. Yes,there are many other variables but this is just a small suggestion to govern Belize. We will get rid of Crony capitalism, give people the chance to elect from among 10 candidates in each electoral division. Condider that there are 10 candidates in Barrow’s Queens Square , Barrow will only have 10% chance of winning, and so on,etc. But we need to get rid of two party system and truly create a multi/independent party system , and institute and enforce recall of dirty politicians like the one we now have. True Power to the People .

So, what Barrow is saying is that Belize should be like every other Constitutional Democracy (except for India) . OK, following that thinking, if ten people jump off the swing bridge and drown, you should follow them. How about Belizeans making decisions for Belizeans. Barrows action changes the rules of the game so as to never lose. Thus there is no longer government under the law, since the government makes the law, often excluding itself and its representatives from that law. Placing the power of legislation proper and of governmental measures in the same hands has effectively brought a return to unlimited government. In this sense, the danger is that government exists for the maintenance of the ruling elite, i.e. Barrow and friends

I CAN’T BELIEVE…The Prime Minister sent the people of Belize a letter? Ahhhh…ok…where does he live? I’m confused…is he the Prime Minister of Belize in Central America or Belize in Congo, Africa? So the Prime Minister cannot visit his friends at Krem, Wave and Seven to explain this…or he couldn’t hold one of his famous press conferences? Damn…this sounds like a drug addict living in outer space. Maybe he was the alien that Cadeth Henderson was seeing atop that hill???
But yet I’ll bet anyone that people in Belize so stupid that they won’t see the light…they just love living in a tunnel.
If it aint broken, don’t fix it. If the 9th is only “Spelling out what is currently there”, then its being redundant. Moreover, if you plan on acting within the confines of section 69, then why should you enshrine a piece of legislation that will blanket all future actions of the government, to ensure that all courts will be obligated to rule in the favor of the GOB? Hmmm…something smells fishy…you must be a fisherman because your hands smell renk to high heavens Mr. Barrow!
Lucas, sums it up nicely. Ask yourself about the fuel prices? Benefits from BTL since nationalization? Benefits from oil to Belizeans? Barrow sincerely believes all Belizeans are stupid morons, thus the reason he speaks to us in double speak, but he failed to realize that Belizeans aren’t stupid morons, we are just passive aggressive and the time will come when that will be no more.

Lest we forget – Barry Bowen is gone – we loved him – good or bad as you knew him – and all that – but BLAL (Belize Land Owners Assoc Ltd) was really the focal point – It started there as everyone knows – He was the ego – and he loved to be on the point….
We (BLAL) & he (Barry) as a group decided to oppose the absolute stupidity of eliminating the judiciary point of the three sided balance between legislative, executive and judiciary. Why he (Barrow) has sought this imbalance must be seeded in his socialist mentality but as well meaning as it may be – it will always go against the democratic balance dictated by the tricameral concept of balance of power shared by the three branches – legislative, executive and judicial.
And now he persists to use his rubber stamp house obviously leading to his executive seal in this overt effort at eliminating the Judicial Branch.

We are somewhat chagrined since we sat in the appeals court and heard the judge ask Lois Young ” do you really believe that we going to allow you to eliminate us ??” Obviously they wouldn’t and didn’t so why do they think that they will in the future ??
Unfortunately, it seems that Barrow has now got to our lawyer – Dickie Bradley..
