Mid-afternoon shooting on Amara Avenue
Only a few hours ago, the bloodshed began on the violence prone streets of Belize City. A hail of nine millimeter rounds were let loose on a City resident this afternoon as he stood near the office of Mesopotamia Area Representative Michael Finnegan on Amara Avenue. Jeffery Flowers, a known affiliate of the Taylor’s Alley Gang, was hit multiple times during a shower of bullets before his attacker fled the scene. Flowers, who was recently released from prison, has several prior run-ins with the law, including the alleged stabbing of former police officer Kevin ‘Cowboy’ Alvarez behind prison walls in May of last year. While police have not been able to determine a motive, it is believed that today’s incident may have been gang related as Flowers, some say, strayed from his neighborhood stronghold. Moments after News Five arrived at the scene of the shooting; Scenes of Crime personnel were processing the area. According to Police Press Officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood, Flowers remains hospitalized in a serious condition.

“Sometime around one o’clock police received information that we had a shooting incident on Amara Avenue somewhere between King and Dean Streets. Upon arrival on the scene technicians recovered in excess of nine expended nine millimeter shells. We have identified the victim of this shooting as Jeffery Flowers AKA “Redning”, he’s no stranger to the news. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he’s presently listed in a serious but stable condition.”

“In so far as the preliminary investigation into this shooting have you guys been able to ascertain what was the cause of it?”
“Not as yet but we all know that there is an ongoing rivalry within [the] south side gangs and Jeffery Flowers is a known member of one of these rival gangs. So we are looking at that angle and we are also looking at other angles. We are presently trying to gather as much evidence and information as possible to see if we can identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of this crime.”
In September 2010 Flowers was among a group of five men who were remanded to the Hattieville Prison following the discovery of a loaded nine millimeter pistol during a stop and search on Calle Al Mar. The men subsequently appeared in court where they answered to a series of charges ranging from drug trafficking to attempted murder. And there’s an update to the murder of twenty-one year old Thaddeus Castillo, who was chopped on the head in Cotton Tree Village and died on Wednesday night. The fifteen year old minor in police custody has been formally charged with Murder.
Cut out the foolishness Dudes! it will eventually catch up with you even the guy that got you, it is coming to him soon, so I think you guys need to start talking to each other, only cowards shoot and run. The mission of a soldier is to stand his grounds and keep advancing. Remember, My Legacy B4 My People
This is the exact area of town I was born and my how times have changed. It is hard to fathom that there are area of Belize City where some Belizeans are not allowed to go because of the ignorance of gang affiliation.
Sad part is they are all blood relatives and they do not even know it! They should have a program in prison where the prisoners trace their family rots just so they can see how they are all related perhaps this will kick some sense in their heads and cause them to stop the ignorance.
This is what it has come to. Eventually they will all kill each other what goes around comes around. I think that the police officers should just stand by and let them kill each other. UNTIL THE PEOPLE START TO TALK UP THEN THIS IS HOW IT IS GOING TO BE. The police just need to protect the one that are honest working Belizean, as for the wanna be GANGBANGER let them kill each other. There is a law if Florida that is call 10 ,20 ,life .www.dc.state.fl.us/oth/10-20-life/ CHECK IT OUT
AND…………..We have a 15 YEAR OLD CHARGED WITH MURDER………What is this place coming to???
Where is Barrow’s plan to fight crime?
I always wonder why the media and the police department continue to uplift these scums by saying things like “we have a gang war in Belize”. I always believed, well especially journalist to be somewhat intelligent but i guess they too would fail a simple test. The other thing I disliked was went a journalist compared one of these dirt bags to a soldier and I say “do you know what it is to be a soldier”. A soldier is a person who protects his country at all cost, a soldier recieves training to become disciplined and to obey law and order. So its very wrong to uplift these guys in this manner, leave it up to me; eradication like rats is the solution for these animals have no use in our society.
Belama Police station still closed down!!!
