Soca Sensation, Alison Hinds, to give concert performance
There’s nothing like soca music to bring the September celebrations to life. And this year Allison Hinds is in Belize to bring in the tenth day activities with a massive concert on the ninth night. This will be her first performance in Belize since she formed her own band, the Allison Hinds Show and she says she is happy to be back in the jewel and ready to hit the stage. Hinds touched down this afternoon and was at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts to meet the media. News Five spoke to her to find out what the fans can look forward to this Wednesday night.
Allison Hinds, Soca Artist
“Very happy to be here. I am—my last couple of times here I had a great time. That’s when I was with square one and I’m looking forward just as much to this particular performance. I’m a solo artist now, so I have my own band, I have my band with me band we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna get on Wednesday night.”

“So the fans can expect a lot of new tracks?”
Allison Hinds
“New tracks, old stuff. You can’t leave out the classic; the stuff that I’ve built, the songs that have grown with me and that the Belizeans have grown to love and to enjoy. So it’s gonna be a mix—its gonna be a mix of the new stuff, some of the more recent stuff from this year, some past stuff so it’s gonna be a combination. We’re gonna do our best to mix it up and keep the Belizeans happy.”

“We know you come with a lot of energy. What’s the vibe gonna be like for the concert?”
Allison Hinds
“It’s gonna be crazy. It’s gonna be absolutely crazy and I know, I’ve just said it, Belizeans are very patriotic and so I expect everybody in the audience to have their Belizean flags in hand. Make sure you have a flag and you have to have a rag too. The rag is to just wipe the sweat and go again and you wave your flag. I just landed, but I understand that the vibe is there, the energy is there and people are really looking forward to it and we’re looking forward to it and I just want to see everyone come out and we’re very honored that we’re going to be a part of the celebrations. So we are here to celebrate with Belize.”
Before tomorrow’s performance, Hinds will make a guest appearance in Open Your Eyes tomorrow morning. You can’t miss this personal and direct conversation. Tickets for Wednesday night’s show are going for forty dollars in advance and fifty at the door. Hinds’ last performance in Belize was in 2003.
