Electrician charged for fight inside police station cell
A twenty-nine year old Belize City electrician got himself in trouble on Saturday night while visiting San Pedro. Twenty-nine year old Kareem Eagan was in detention at the island’s police station when he got into an altercation with four other men in the holding cell. Today Eagan was read four counts of Wounding for allegedly inflicting cut wounds to the faces of Selvin Chi, Miguel Navarette, Roque Caliz and Alexis Nunez. In court, Eagan claimed that police handcuffed him too tightly throughout the night, causing lacerations to his wrists. He also alleged that police hit him on the mouth with a gun. Magistrate Roberto Ordonez offered Eagan bail of three thousand dollars, but he was remanded after it was revealed that he owes outstanding fines to the court.
