Robbers shoot Friendly Restaurant employee

In other crimes, a frightening armed robbery occurred this afternoon in the Belama Phase One area of Belize City. An employee was injured and had to be hospitalized for a gunshot wound to her right shoulder. Twenty-four year old Kenya Avilez, was along with Cie Lin, the owner of Friendly Restaurant and Store located on Albert Hoy Street in Belama when the foiled robbery took place. The robbers entered the establishment at about two-twenty and demanded money, but before Avilez and Cie could hand over any cash, one shot was fired hitting Avilez in the shoulder. The two men escaped empty-handed and got into a getaway car parked about one hundred yards away from the store. Avilez was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where she was admitted into stable condition.
