Ex-cop charged for string of offences
He is an ex-cop who finds himself in plenty trouble with the law. Last week, the ex-cop turned businessman was slapped with theft charges, but tonight there are fresh allegations involving a parcel of land in the south. Vidal Campos is accused of transferring to his name on June sixth, a property situated in Hopkins Village, belonging to Constantine Palacio. Campos allegedly then pawned the property to Fair Brother’s Pawn Shop in Belize City. According to Fair Brothers, located on Youth for the Future Drive near the Bel China Bridge, Campos did the transaction on August fifth of this year. He got thirty thousand dollars in cash as collateral for the property. In court today, the Caledonia resident, was read a charge of obtaining property by deception. He pleaded not guilty and was offered bail of five thousand dollars. Last Friday Campos was charged with the theft of a vehicle belonging to Varela’s Auto Rental. The rental was for two months beginning on June sixth. But he did not return the vehicle and on September second, the long arms of the law caught up with him as he drove the Jeep Cherokee to Belize City. Campos is also wanted in Placencia’ and Belmopan for similar offences.
