But there are also other ordinary folks that are doing their share in memory of George Price. In Benque Viejo one woman is making a private gesture that is sure to warm the hearts of Price’s loved ones. Sonia Yolanda Gomez, the owner of Yoly’s Snack Shop at the corner Kennedy and Diaz Streets created an altar to honor Price. She also prepared a notebook that has so far received one hundred and seventy-five signatures from people who stopped by to show their condolences and support for the national hero. She will be holding a tribute in his honor for nine days and tonight there will be a wake for anyone who wishes to come out and share their thoughts about the Father of the Nation.

Meanwhile, condolence books have are also opened to the public in Belize City and Belmopan. In the Old Capital, residents can record their condolences at the House of Culture while in Belmopan the book was opened at the George Price Center for Peace and Development.

  1. Diehard Belizean says:

A true Belizean woman honouring our greatest patriot, greatest leader, Father of the Nation and Leader Emeritus of the great People’s United Party. I spent some time at Yoly’s place with other friends from Benque and reminisced on the life and legacy of the right Honourable George Cadle Price. We can never forget his dedicated life and love for Belize.

Many people wrote their comments In the “Book of Memories” which Yoly had placed by the altar. I even noticed teenagers writing their comments on Belize’s greatest hero. I took my time and in my reflection I wrote “….even though we will not have our great Leader in flesh, we will always have him in spirit…I cherish his life and his legacy he has handed to us…Long live George Cadle Price, Long Live Belize!”
