Bus driver assaulted and robbed
Two days after a bus driver was held up and robbed, Belize City police still have no leads as to who committed the crime. The victim, fifty-five year old Seaford Dawson, who works for James Bus Line, reported to authorities that around eight-forty on Monday night, he stopped at the Pound Yard Bridge to let off passengers. But as soon as people started to get out of their seats and leave two dark complexioned men entered the bus. According to Dawson, one of the men then pulled out a black handgun and demanded money. But before Dawson could respond he was hit in the face with the firearm injuring his nose and forehead. As Dawson was being attacked his assailant’s accomplice then grabbed a bag containing the proceeds from the day’s ticket sales. According to the bus company, at the time of the incident Dawson had not counted the cash so they do not know exactly how much money was stolen.
