Procession route of body of Father of the Nation
Price’s death has unified the nation and his funeral this weekend will be followed from start to finish. So here are our programming notes. Beginning on Saturday at six in the morning, our coverage of the final farewell to the Right Honorable George Price gets underway with documentaries and interviews. At six-forty-five, we’ll have live coverage when the body of the fallen leader is carried from the morgue to the Bliss. On Saturday afternoon, beginning at two-thirty, we will have coverage from Holy Redeemer Cathedral where a service is being held. On Sunday we’ll go to Belmopan where he will lie in state at the Price Center. And on Monday morning, our coverage begins on Open Your Eyes from Belmopan. It will include the Independence Hill service as well as his internment at Lord Ridge Cemetery. Here is a repeat of the procession routes for Saturday and Sunday.
The procession on Saturday to the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts goes from the KHMH morgue into St. Thomas Street. It then takes a left into Freetown Road, RIGHT into Mapp Street followed by another left into North Front Street. The procession moves over Swing Bridge, into Albert Street and makes a left into Treasury Lane to the Bliss Center for the Performing Arts.
At three-thirty p.m., the Right Honorable George Price’s body will be transported to the Holy Redeemer Cathedral where a mass will be held by the family to celebrate his life. For that reason, at two p.m. on Saturday, the area of North Front between Hyde’s Lane Queen Street, will be closed to vehicular and foot traffic, until the end of the funeral service.
The body of the national hero will then be transported to Belmopan using the following route:
From the Holy Redeemer Cathedral, the procession moves into Queen Street then makes a left into New Road, followed by Hydes Lane and North Front Street. It then heads over the Swing Bridge onto Albert Street, where it makes a right into Orange Street, heading straight through Cemetery Road to the Central American Blvd Roundabout. From there, the body will be taken to Belmopan where the procession continues at Constitution Drive. It turns right onto Culvert Road, Ring Road and then into Price Center Road, ending at the George Price Center for Peace and Development.
On Sunday, Price’s body will lie in state from eight a.m. to five p.m. at the Center.
Don’t forget that all the Live Coverage will be streamed online via the News Five Live Streaming Banner. If you didn’t catch it live, the historic event will be repeated on Monday afternoon.
