Collateral damage of Street War; 16 year old shooting victim clings to life

We reported on Tuesday night on the brazen shooting of a sixteen-year-old minor near one of the busiest arteries in the city. One bullet penetrated his head and exited on his temple. Justin Stephens, also known as Justin Teck, is on life support at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital tonight, where he was rushed after he was targeted. Teck was riding his bicycle on Freetown Road between Yin Kee Restaurant and the traffic light when two assailants also on bicycles rode up behind him. One of the youths pulled out a firearm and fired three shots, one which caught him on the head. Bystanders gathered near Teck and even as he was hemorrhaging, he attempted to stand up. His sister confirmed the gravity of the injuries and believes that her brother was innocently shot simply because he lives in the Kelly Street area. Residents have linked the shooter and his accomplice to a Victoria Street gang, who are believed to have acted in retaliation for the murder of Joshua Abraham. The rivalry is nothing new, but instead of shooting each other, the gangs have been shooting innocent residents from the two neighborhoods that are only separated by one street, Freetown Road.

Belize is too small for all this and the worst thing is the ones doing these things don’t even read or care about these comments.Too bad to know that its only until they get much older or become victims themselves that they relize what they’re doing is wrong.
Us who can make a difference need to do something now.It starts from the ones that are above this level of violence.Belize is too small for this.

  5. Elgin Martinez says:

The GOB is to blame for sending the wrong message to the criminal element. Why would a Prime Minister negotiate with gang members? It’s like telling them that they’re incharge.

  6. MADDYVANDIJKDEREALISTO says:

from murder to smuggling weed into prison the GOB gets the blame from the public. The criminals see that the public is supporting their devious act everytime they blame the GOB for their crimes.

  7. Charlie Price says:

    Maddy…..YOU ARE AN IDIOT……

  10. MADDYVANDIJKDEREALIST says:

Charlie, Any smart person would know that the PM cannot be blamed for every little thing that is happening in Belize today, so pull your head out your @$$.

This subject lacks any debate on the roll of the PM and his role as goverment, instead the subject shed light on yet another senseless shooting. wake the hell up, you are off subject here.

Who is taking responsibility for their own action in Belize today? No one really.
