Former cop charged for stealing rented vehicle
Another man busted for car theft is forty-two year old Vidal Campos, who should have known better than to get caught up in illegal activities. That’s because Campos, who is now a contractor, previously served as a police officer. Campos allegedly rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee from Varela’s Auto Rental on June fifth and according to manager, Myrna Varela, the vehicle was never returned. Varela reported the incident on September first and Campos was caught in Caledonia Village, Corozal driving the vehicle towards Belize City the following day. He was detained and appeared in court today where he pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Aretha Ford. He was granted bail of ten thousand dollars, but Campos had more bad luck and was handed over to C.I.B. because he is wanted in Dangriga for another investigation.
