Duets Finals; breath-taking performances

Tonight is the final round of competition for KTV Duets. Three of the four duos will move on and one will unfortunately go home. It has been grueling and highly competitive and when they take the stage tonight, the performances will determine who will take the glory and the thunder of KTV Duets. The judges are ready to give their last assessment and the fans will have to keep voting. News Five’s Delahnie Bain has a look at the four duos that appeared on stage last week.

It started with sixteen and tonight only three duets will compete in the final showdown before the KTV Duets champions for 2011 walk away with ten thousand dollars. Last week four couples performed at the Bliss, but one of them did not make it to the finals.

So will duet number one from Santa Familia, Cayo be among the top three? Domingo and Mervin have not always had the judges’ favor, but the fans enjoyed their Reggaeton flavor and the signature slow whine.

Duet number two, the father and daughter duo from Dangriga also had some off-days early in the competition. But Don and Donna Neal soon found their niche in cultural performances and the support from their community has brought them this far.

And then there’s duet number three; Arlen comes all the way from Roaring Creek and Jeannie lives in the city, but the two have managed to bring high energy acts to the Bliss stage. Lately, the judges noticed a disconnection in this duo and only time will tell if that has affected their standing in the competition.

Also hailing from the city is Duet number four, Kevin and Brian. Their antics combined with an unexpected soft side have made them a constant crowd pleaser. But a laughing, dancing audience doesn’t always translate into votes. So will the City Boys be on stage tonight? You’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s down to the wire and the three duets who survive tonight’s elimination will face their biggest challenge yet… the last clash for the grand prize in KTV Duets. Delahnie Bain for News Five.

On this final round of competition, voting will close at mid-day on Sunday because of SMART’s switchover to the 3G platform. So don’t delay, text your vote to your favorite duo early by sending their number to 3838.
