Fight between banana workers ends in bloodshed
In crime news, a fight between two banana workers in the Stann Creek district has left both men hospitalised. According to police, around six-thirty Thursday morning, work gang captains Santiago Centeno and Jose Hernandez showed up at Green Grove, also known as Farm Fifteen, to organise their crews. But before long, the men started to fight, accusing each other of gossiping to co-workers and the boss. The quarrel escalated to violence when Hernandez stabbed Centeno in the chest with a knife. Despite his injury, the bleeding man was able to grab his machete and chopped Hernandez in the back of the head, the thigh and right foot. Both men were rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital in Dangriga where they remain tonight in stable condition.
