Attempted Murder is the case for Steven Polonio
Belize City resident, Steven Polonio was today committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court for the Attempted Murder of Harry Joseph. Chief Magistrate, Ann Marie Smith made the ruling shortly before midday after Polonio, who was unrepresented at his preliminary inquiry, did not challenge the evidence presented against him. The prosecution is relying on strong evidence in several statements from Joseph, a witness Steven Flowers and Jaime Sosa, the Scenes of crime personnel. Polonio is out on bail and is to appear at the Supreme Court on January twelfth for the start of trial. At this time, he has no alibi witness, but he has seven days to provide the court with any such details. On June twenty-seventh, Joseph was shot at the corner of Mahogany and Sarstoon Streets. Police say that according to Joseph, he was standing at the intersection of the two streets, when two men rode by on bicycles and one of them pulled out a black handgun and fired shots at him. One of the shots caught Joseph in his left arm and he was rushed to the K.H.M.H. for treatment.
