Lecturer acquitted again for bullet proof vest

Also in court, twenty-eighty year old Leon Leslie, a lecturer at the University of Belize was today acquitted for the second time of charges in connection with a bullet proof vest that was allegedly found inside his vehicle. The acquittal came after the testimony of arresting officer, Detective Constable, Ivan Galvez. The serial number that Galvez gave in court was different from what was in his initial report on the bust.  Leslie’s attorney, Ellis Arnold, then made a no case submission arguing that the bullet proof vest that was allegedly confiscated was not presented in evidence. Magistrate Dorothy Flowers agreed and acquitted Leslie of the charge.  On January sixteenth, Galvez, claimed that while on patrol, he searched Leslie’s vehicle on Periwinkle Street in Belize City and found the bullet proof vest in the back. On July twentieth the charge of Possession of Prohibited Material was dismissed when Galvez failed to show up in court to testify. Galvez claimed that he didn’t show up because he was never summoned and Leslie was later rearrested. But today may be the end of that court saga for the UB lecturer.
