Man charged for weed in prison cell
A prison inmate serving time for Robbery got himself in more hot water when he was busted with weed. Twenty-six year old Noel Herrera was found with four ounces of weed inside his cell at the Hattieville Prison. Herrera, who is now out on bail for the Robbery charge, initially pleaded not guilty to Drug Trafficking, but when he appeared in court today he pleaded guilty to Possession instead. The D.P.P. accepted his guilty plea and the Prosecutor, Sergeant Clinton Magdaleno, withdrew the drug trafficking charge. Herrera was then fined three thousand dollars plus five dollars for court cost and ordered to pay by November sixth or serve three years. The drugs were found wrapped in a shirt in Herrera’s cell during a search conducted by prison officer, Edmund Lopez on March eighteenth.
