According to Michael Evans, “Just Being Me” is a reflection of his efforts to live a positive, God-fearing life.

Michael Evans, gospel artist
“From one day to the next I just write about the themes that I’m experiencing or the struggles that I’m experiencing or the different challenges or the successes that I’ve experienced in life and so basically it’s just a culmination of the day-to-day activities that I go through.”

Featured on Evan’s second solo release is vocalist John Rodriguez, also known as “John J”. Rodriguez says Evans convinced him to change his secular ways.

John Rodriguez, gospel artist
“I was going through some problems in my life and he grabbed me from out of the worldly concept of life you know, and he brought me into the light.”

Marion Ali
“Speaking of the worldly concept, everybody who knows Super G knows that you played a major role in his latest release “Hold You”. Are you shifting gears here from that worldly concept to now Christianity or Gospel Music?”

John Rodriguez
“Yes I am. Yeah. I had a lot of fans when it come to singing those type of songs, but beware people. I’m coming in a different light and you’ll like me even more.”

Song number six “Just Being Me” is a piece that Michael Evans says has helped to shape his very life. The musician hopes his CD will bring Christianity into the lives of his peers.

John Rodriguez
“Basically the chorus of the song says ‘I’m just being me, all He wants me to be, nothing more nothing less, nothing contrary. I’m destined to be by the Almighty given breath to live life fully.’ And so that whole song “Just Being Me” is the title of the album and it really explains my life as a Christian. I am being me, but not just anybody. I’m being the ‘me’ that God created me to be. Christianity is a lifestyle and so people will buy into whatever they see is real and young people are looking for something that is real. The music is punta, reggae, soca, dancehall, a little bit of cross over into hip hop, that sort of stuff and so basically we’re bringing the beats that the want to listen to everyday and we’re bringing choruses that are catchy and within a short while the chorus sink in and then the rest of the messages of the song just flow in with it.”

The CD contains fifteen songs and is available in most music stores for between twenty-five and thirty dollars a copy. Marion Ali for News Five.

According to John J. Rodriguez, he is presently working on his first gospel CD.
