Parent wants cops to charge man who knocked down his son

But a Belize City father is not happy with the police department tonight because he wants justice for his ten year old son who was badly injured in a traffic mishap. Terrence Moya says he sent his son, Tyrece, to the store last Monday and the child barely made it out the gate when he was hit by a taxi. According to Terrence, the driver is Elsnore Arnold of an Amara Avenue address, but although the cops have that information they have made no effort to detain or charge him. While Tyrece has been at home recovering, Terrence has been frequenting the police station trying to get some answers. But since complaining to the police hasn’t worked, he came to our studios to make a public complaint about them. Terrence recalled what has happened since he heard the loud screech of vehicle brakes outside his home on the day his son was hit.

“When I gone pan di scene now I pick up my son and I realize dat dis taxi man dah mi di driver, ih have dreads and thing. I neva know di man name at di moment. So he look like he dah di driver and me and he pick up my son and we ker my son dah hospital weh I realize my son have broken foot, ih have wah big cut pan ih foot, ih bloody and ih have blood di come from ih head. So weh happen three police come pan di scene and dehn tek down information from dis guy; I noh know weh kinda information he give. My son admitted fi two nights inna di hospital and from dah time deh, when my son come out, di police just noh di pay attention to dis matta. Dehn di ignore it. Dah me have to deh behind dehn and di try find out weh dehn wah do bout dis.”

“Dah two days afta di police gone pan di scene and dat dah because I deh behind dehn, behind dis matta and dehn tek pictures ah di scene and tek pictures ah di bicycle and I neva mi di get no response afta dat. Day to day I deh behind di police di ask dehn weh happen weh di guy deh. So happens yesterday dehn call me in and dehn seh dehn have di guy. Sergeant Aguilar tell me dat Mr. Moya you not even know if dah dis young man yah was di driver weh knock down your son. When he tell me such thing dah den I realize dat yoh know what something wrong yah. Either he di cover up fi dis person or dis person got some kinda financial behind he mek my son noh di get no attention too toward dis case. Di police kept dis as wah secret. Nobody noh mi wah know bout dis if I noh di push dis forward. Nobody wouldn’t ah even know wah minor get knock down by di name ah Tyrece Moya. Nobody wouldn’t ah know dat.”
