Son of Home Affairs Minister dead in car crash
The rumours flew all afternoon but we can now confirm that two men are dead as the result of a traffic accident on the Northern Highway near Tower Hill. One of the dead, Ralph Fonseca Junior, is the son of Minister of Home Affairs, Ralph Fonseca Senior. The other is Ralph Balderamos, who it is believed was driving the vehicle. Reports indicate that the black Prado was heading north from Belize City towards Orange Walk around three when, near the Tower Hill junction, it slammed into a cane trailer that was being pulled in the same direction. Fonseca and Balderamos were trapped in the front seats and are believed to have died on impact. Two passengers, forty-one year old Eugene Webster and thirty-four year old Halden Stevenson, were injured and taken to the Northern Regional Hospital. Webster has two fractured hands while Stevenson injured his left eye and nose.
