Will government call early elections?
Before turning to tonight’s question, our viewers were pretty close on our previous poll in respect of who would better represent Caribbean shores. When we checked today just before posting the new question, the poll gave Ann Marie one hundred sixty-six votes, Chandra received three hundred and sixty-five and Santi got eight hundred and ninety five votes totaling one thousand four hundred and twenty-six votes. The final results in Sunday’s convention were as follows; Ann Marie, one hundred and thirty seven votes, Chandra six hundred and sixteen votes and Santi, nine hundred and seven votes, totaling one thousand six hundred and eight votes. Now our question is: Do you think the government will call early elections?
If they were wise they should, perhaps they could play on the PUP’s weakness and short comings and on the contrary, calling elections early could have some serious ramification and perhaps a serious backlash.
WHY WOULD THEY??? THEY WANT TO HOLD ON TO POWER AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!!!

If they call an early election it can cause havoc on Belize,because a lot of people would be out of a job,and so many other things can go wrong.
Yes they should. They should do the same thing the PM of Jamaica has done; put himself to the electorate to get a new mandate. Among the Jamaican PM’s reasons was that the lending institutions require the government to show it has the mandate of the people. Fresh election is the most reliable way to evidence this. There are parallels with Jamaica and Belize right now. Similarly, as in Ja. the lending instutitutions are prescribing austerity measures and has requested the government to show it has the mandate from the people. In Ja., PM Holness and his JLP believed that a snap election would catch the opposition PNP unprepared and they then would be able to get their fresh mandate. The thinking on the ground in Belize right now is that too; the opposition is not battle ready and a snap election will catch them unprepared and the UDP should be able to coast to victory. Will see how this plays out!
If they do, they are going to get the other seats that the opposition have. the PUP are so far away from winning another election. at least the UDP are safe for another five years.

Safe??? Really??? None of them is safely going to win… In fact it would be amazing to see this administration call an early election when they had been soooo hungry to get in there in the first place.
its a shame for the UDP government what more lies are they going to bring to the people now? its been nearly 5 years under the UDP and things have gotten worst,they promised to bring down the cost of living no matta what? bring down the cost of fuel,and the ones benefiting the riches of our country are the main UDP cronies ,the PM’S sons,daughter,ex-wife and the poor always suffers the consecuences,another UDP term will be HELL……people need to realize and open their eyes NOW before its too late.
