Prime minister upset about N.T.U.C.B. spin on meeting
Who’s telling the truth? That’s what we tried to find out today. The National Trade Union Congress of Belize on Tuesday issued a five point release indicating that it worked out several issues with Prime Minister Dean Barrow at a meeting on August thirty-first. But the PM indicated today that the author of the release may have given statements that are misleading and he was not happy with “the spin” that they put on the meeting.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I want to make clear that whatever was agreed to in the meeting will be done. I was not happy with the spin that I thought the N.T.U.C.B. was trying to put on the meeting. But in a sense that’s water under the bridge. I will not ever be petty and begin to say oh well you went out there and tried to make it appear as though the government said “uncle” and as a result now I’m going to teach you a lesson. We can quarrel over signals. We can quarrel over atmospherics. But basically if we’ve agreed certain concrete things there must be implementation and I will not allow any sense of upset over what I thought was a deliberately wrong spin put on things to interfere with the progress of substance that I think was made in the meeting.”
