Double murdered commits suicide; he’s not a B.D.F. soldier
Belize’s most wanted fugitive, sought by authorities for the heinous murders of his former in-laws, remained on the lam for less than twenty-four hours; that is until he committed suicide. The lifeless body of forty year old Lorne Lisbey, wanted for the vicious slaying of Anacleta Pech and her daughter Ana Cortez on Thursday, was discovered this morning in an area seven hundred yards southwest of Carmelita in the Orange Walk District. It is believed that Lisbey took his own life sometime after he committed the ruthless double murder of his ex mother-in-law and her thirty year old daughter at their residence in the village. Orange Walk police later found Lisbey’s body clad in camouflage long pants with a gaping shotgun wound to the back of the head in an overgrown area near the outskirts of the community. Between his legs was a sixteen gauge shotgun, presumably the weapon used in the homicides. Also found next to him was a pair of military boots. The body was transported to Northern Regional Hospital where Dr. Nora Romero him dead on arrival.
Lisbey was described as a former Belize Defense Force soldier in other sections of the media; however, B.D.F. Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel James Requeña says that a search of their employment records indicate that he wasn’t listed as a regular officer.

“I know that the BDF has taken issue with the fact we reported that the young man who had murdered his mother-in-law and sister-in-law is a former BDF. Why has the BDF taken an issue with that?”
Lt. Col. James Requena – Chief of Staff, BDF
“The reason we have taken issue with it is that no one contacted us to clarify. We have checked our records, and he’s never been a member of the regular force. Presently, we are checking our voluntary element records to see if he was ever a member of voluntary element, but as far as our records show, he has never been a member of the Belize Defense Force regular element since its formation in 1978. We have records for all those persons.”
coward!
It is so sad to c senseless crimes like this happeouoooon so regular an d worst part of it is that it could hav been prevented. Our system is so poor an hlpless to society that if the ones responsible for helping troubled people like who learn was , then we see more cases like this one, well the reason i said that. It could hav been avoided is because learn personally after talking to me went three times to the socjal office begging for help for concilling an he was only from this one to the otherone an so on till he gave up hopes, wat r thse pple hired for ? Is it that a councillor only giv councilling aftr smone cmmit himslf. ? So sad
A terrible tragedy all around. RIP, poor victims. At least justice was done in the end in this case.
Very sad
Not having a record does not mean he was not a member of the BDF. They are lacking on record keeping! If you do not agree 12 days of records were allegedly not made or kept on the weapons storage dopot.
That is belize never up date in information. Just look at the national ire department does not have equipment to even do a good fire fighting the fire man does not have hydrants in town Santa Elena and other places its a shame that the government does not even have the aspects for protection and saving people property. The minister melvin call a training for the national fire service an did not open it to the public it was a political training or intake. Why we Belizean people give those kind of ppl the right to be above us?? lets unite and be one my people an run our country we have the most power so we can use it. We have been fool by colors red and blue they are both there to break our unity to be one strong ppl, they just want to beark us an to let us be fool and fight agents each other for colors that means unjustice. Let unite we the people an show them that we are not their puppet but we are the ppl an we say what goes, We want better protection, health, police and fire fighter, better hightways streets or out the gov goes better education we are done with there fools. We neven have a good defence force are we safe in Belize be real my ppl no we are not!
No one should judge cause u all never know how he felt or what he went through..I’m sorry for the victim or the family but we can’t judge what he was going through..
