Career criminal appointments in separate courtrooms

Ending the Rosewood extraction seems as tough as trying to reform criminals from returning to the courts. Earlier today, Anthony Mortis, a career criminal, was back in court today to answer a charge of attempted burglary.  The fifty-two year old appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer this morning after being accused of trying to break into the home of Ivorene Vernon located at 23 T Street.  Mortis, who appeared unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Court prosecutor Inspector Hector Rodriguez objected to bail on the premise that Mortis is a repeat offender who currently has two similar charges of the same nature.  Objection to bail was upheld and Mortis was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until February eight, 2012.  In another appearance, this time before Magistrate Albert Hoare, his case has been adjourned to January twenty third, 2012.
