Murder suspect’s day in Court

There is another murder suspect that headed to court today. Twenty year old Edwin Millian appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer in connection with the brutal slaying of fifty-five year old Santos Benito Elvir, a farm worker from the Stann Creek District, whose body was discovered on a feeder road on October seventh, 2011. Millian was arraigned for the murder in Dangriga but he was brought to the Belize City court today because there was no Magistrate in the south. Senior Magistrate Frazer adjourned the matter until March seventh, when he will appear before a Dangriga Magistrate. Elvir, who was employed at Paradise Shrimp Farm, was last seen alive on October sixth when he was with friends at a bar. It is believed that he was ambushed and brutally murdered later that night. The following morning, police discovered the body on a citrus farm; it had multiple chop wounds to the face, head and right hand as well two stab wounds on the left side of the body. Four of Elvir’s fingers had also been amputated.
