Why did VIP and former mayoral candidate part ways?
Paul Morgan replaced Marlon Skeen as the VIP Mayoral candidate for Belmopan. In a joint release, it was announced that Skeen would run as an independent candidate. News Five asked Morgan today what took place on the proverbial eve of the municipal election.
Paul Morgan, VIP Mayoral Candidate for Belmopan
“Well as you see, we are approximately forty days away from elections and indeed it wasn’t something that the VIP wanted to happen. But as many of the members have spoken, the VIP is a team; we have a certain direction that we want to go and we realized that the success of the party or the movement and the success of Belmopan does not hinge on one person’s feelings; it does not hinge on one person. I am also disposable. If I do not proceed in the direction that was set, then I must voluntarily leave—I will know when that time comes. As for the issue to get you a little bit more clear on it, obviously there were disagreement in terms of teamwork, there were disagreements perhaps in terms of a little philosophy about how we work together. And one of the things we do not do in this party si that we do not curse darkness; we make sure that we shed light and we make sure that everybody benefits from their experience with VIP. And I believe that Mister Skeen will be one that will echo the same thing. We did have disagreements and the disagreements could not be resolved and so we decided to part ways amicably. Let me remind you that almighty god decides where these things go. In this team we have had very unique experiences. We have had a candidate for general elections die two days before nomination day; that is seventeen days before elections. So we are not strangers to the things that can happen in this process. The process is bigger than each and everyone of us and we must submit to the will of the team.”
We haven’t heard from Skeen and so we leave it at that.

… then I must voluntarily leave. Oh laad.
