Plenty charges for Hit & Run driver
The driver that hit and killed a man who was riding on the sidewalk of Central American Boulevard also appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann Marie Smith today. Twenty-eight year old Solemni Chun is facing a slew of charges in connection with the death of forty-four year old construction worker, Roberto Thomas Rivero who succumbed to severe bodily injuries on Wednesday night. Chun is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol when he attempted to overtake another vehicle, but lost control of his Astro Van and drove onto the sidewalk where Rivero was riding. He appeared unrepresented in court and was arraigned for Manslaughter by Negligence, Improper Overtaking, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Driving a Motor Vehicle without Due Care and Attention, Driving a Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Concentration above the Prescribed Limit and Driving a Motor Vehicle on the Foot Path. It was also revealed in court today, that Chun failed to stop and render aid after hitting Rivero just before eight o’clock p.m. on Wednesday. There was no objection to bail, but the Chief Magistrate remanded Chun into custody at the Belize Central Prison until his next court appearance on February eighth.

What a life, wish the same would had happen to vega who Crashed into a van on the 26 December, Money talks poor pay for all
A drunk driver who kills a person should be charge with 1st degree Murder or at the the very least 2nd degree Murder. Belize drunk driving laws are outdated. Irresponsible people get away with murder literally. In the USA a person who kills while driving drunk get the book thrown at them and go very many years to prison. In Belize they usually pay a fine and get out quite easily. This is inadequate justice for the victims and their loved one. I would vote for whichever party has the courage to change this law to make these criminal drivers responsible!!
i agree with u 10000% time.
