Police prosecutors receive set of wheels
Next on the receiving end of some wheels was the Police Department.

The donation may be just one motorcycle but it will greatly improve the efficiency of the police prosecution branch in delivering summons to witnesses in a timely fashion.
Police Constable Glen Arzu is one of the three process servers attached to the prosecution branch who will be using the new set of wheels to get the work done. Arzu says in the past it was always a challenge trying to deliver one hundred and fifty summons each week on bicycles.

“The distance like going to Belama and Fabers Road and those places, they were too far for us to go and the motorbike will come in handy for us to go to those distance.”
Sr. Supt. Chester Williams, Deputy Commander, Eastern Division
“Over the past few months we have been having difficulties to serve summons to persons who are needed to go and attend court on a daily basis and this cycle, a 125cc, will enhance that process. The process servers at the branch will now be able to manoeuvre through the little alleys of the city, finding those persons who they need to find and have the summons served upon them so that they can appear in court on a daily basis.”
The motorcycle, valued at eighteen hundred dollars, is the gift of the Fort Street Tourism Village. Business manager Evelyn Deeks says it was concern for the crime situation that prompted them to extend a helping hand to law enforcement.

“I’ve never seen such a high rate in crime these days. Belize use to be such a very peaceful place and with the high rate of crime, I think every, every, every business sector and the community need to join hand in hand in making this a safe place.”
The motorcycle was not the only donation made this week to the Police Department. On Monday George Sosa of G.S. Com handed over a fully equipped computer at the Racoon Street Station.
