Stann Creek Valley scene of more violence

But while police continue to look for their murder suspect, they have made progress in another stabbing incident that also occurred last Friday in the Stann Creek Valley village of Pomona. Twenty six-year old Julian Polanco of the Hummingbird Community has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.

The victim, twenty-nine year old Liberato Sho, told police that around eleven thirty that night he was at a bar drinking with Polanco but as they were both making their way home they started to argue. Polanco reportedly pulled out a knife from his pants and cut Sho to the right side of his stomach. Sho was transported to Southern Regional and later transferred to Western Regional where he remains in a stable condition.

But no sooner had Dangriga police wrapped up their investigation into the case, they were back in the Stann Creek Valley responding to yet another attack. The victim, twenty-five year old Clemente Castellanos of Pomona New Site, told police that around two thirty Saturday morning he was walking home after drinking at a bar with some friends when thirty-four year old Jose Abarca, who was walking in the same direction, started breaking bottles on the street. Castellanos told police he asked Abarca to stop breaking the bottles and that is when Abarca picked up a piece of a broken bottle and stabbed him in the chest and stomach. Cops wasted no time in picking up their suspect and have charged Abarca with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm.
