Five U.B. faculty receive scholarships to Taiwan

Five members of the University of Belize Engineering faculty have received scholarships to study in Taiwan. The grants, for graduate and post-graduate studies at Yunlin University, will be for the 2007/2008 academic year beginning in September. Jeffrey Jones, Leonard Mortis and Adrian Leslie will do graduate work in construction engineering while Andres Chimilio will pursue graduate studies in computer science and information engineering. Ruey-Shyang Ju will do post-graduate work in engineering science and technology. All five will teach English as one of the conditions of their grants. The scholarships form part of government’s commitment to upgrade U.B.’s Engineering faculty, part of the quid pro quo for taking title to the Freetown Road campus and building a vocational training facility on the site.
