Businessman wounded in robbery attempt

Story PictureTonight police believe there is a young man suffering from gunshot wounds hiding somewhere in the city after a robbery went wrong over the weekend. According to reports, around two on Saturday afternoon two men, one armed with a handgun, walked into VRJ’s Fast Food on West Canal and demanded money from owner Deepak Gidwani. But instead of handing over the cash, the businessman bolted from the shop carrying his licensed thirty-eight revolver. A shootout ensued on the street during which Gidwani was hit on the right side of his abdomen. However, investigators believe that one of the robbers was also hit by a bullet. It is unclear whether anything was actually stolen during the incident.
