Exhibition showcases Belizean products/ services
With each passing year the number and sophistication of Belize’s manufacturers and service providers seems to grow. And one way to keep tabs on that growth is an annual exhibition organised by the Belize Business Bureau and Beltraide. This morning, News Five’s Jacqueline Godwin received a pre-opening tour.

When we entered the King’s Room at the Princess Hotel, preparations were well underway for the eighth annual presentation of Belpro ConEx, an exhibition where Belizeans and visitors get to see, under one roof, Belizean made products and services. This year a total of ten thousand people are expected to attend the two-day fair and tour displays set up by over seventy-five exhibitors.
Marga Sanchez, Coordinator, Belpro ConEx 2007
“The objective is to promote Belizean products and services that are available in Belize for everyone to come and see. It is actually an exhibition, it is not products that are being sold or services that are being sold, but it is an exhibition.”
Although it is primarily a promotional event, some items will be on special sale that usually draws a crowd who are looking for great bargains … and this weekend will be no exception. We caught up with the Smart crew who were busy setting up their booth. According to the telephone company’s marketing analyst, Linda Carballo, there will be many great deals.
Linda Carballo, Marketing Analyst, Smart
“We have new models of phones and with some discounted prices, so that’s what we’re going to be showcasing here. We’re gonna also be giving promotions for post-paid plans and giving away coupons to customers that walk in, they can always come in. We are giving coupons with ten dollars credit so when they go over to our showroom and if they sign up they can get the free air time allotted to their account.”
Equally attractive are the giveaways at the Tropic Air booth that will not only have you looking good, but flying free.
Catherine Paz, Manager, Marketing/Sales, San Pedro
“Well Tropic Air will be raffling free raffles of a round trip ticket for two people to San Pedro with a night stay at the Mayan Princess and twenty-four hours golf cart rental. We’ll also be raffling a few Tropic Air T-shirts and we will also have free mail and free cargo raffles.”
“We like to touch base with all our suppliers, mostly for our mail and our cargo and of course passengers, our local passengers that use our service countrywide.”
Marga Sanchez
“New to Belpro ConEx this year are two culinary experts from Barbados that are going to be displaying their expertise outside of the hotel, which is by the poolside. … We are inviting Belizeans, we are inviting everyone not only Belizeans, tourists, visitors, residents of Belize to come and view the creativity that Belizeans have.”
