Incumbent Councilor Muschamp explains

Orlando Muschamp

But incumbent Punta Gorda Councilor, Orlando Muschamp, called News Five and shared his side of the story. Muschamp says that the dispute is one that stems from Lino’s unwillingness to engage him as the councilor with responsibility for infrastructure. He says he eventually withdrew himself from the meetings and over the weekend, he got an official dismissal letter from the U.D.P.

“It seems to me that Mr. Lino does not want to take the advice and does not give me the opportunity to exercise my right as a councilor for infrastructure to get the works done in Punta Gorda Town to specification. So, on the job site here on the basketball court. I called him and asked him if he doesn’t want to listen to me to at least seek advice or get the right people to do the job so as for us not be wasting time and the public fund. He sent me a text with the F word and that I should not F talk back to him; that he is on top of his thing. One hundred and thirty five people showed up the Monday morning for work in Punta Gorda at the Municipal building with no placement, what they were gonna do or how they were gonna do it; yet, the money was disbursed and paid for a non-profit reason; this not beneficial to the people of Punta Gorda. It was then that I stepped in and told them I was gonna be a part, although I was not invited. I was not gonna attend no public meeting; please take me off your slate. I guess he had no other decision and invited Minister Faber, who is the Chairman of the party to hold a meeting, and they invited me but I told Mr. Lino, I am not attending no more meetings’ because of the bad decisions he has been making for Punta Gorda. That led the U.D.P. to write me a letter informing me that they will withdraw me as a candidate on the slate. Fine; I accepted.”

Muschamp says he will now submit himself as an independent candidate for the Punta Gorda Municipal Elections.

    Fish rot from the head.

Let’s get real auditors in there, and see what the truth is about TAXPAYER MONEY. There is only one Jewel, and money stolen or wasted in Punta Gorda or anywhere else comes from all of us.

We have a right to know the truth! And anyone who blocks the truth should be tossed out of office at the first chance.
