PM says Treaty Oil lied about oil find
On Monday, reports from legitimate international news sources went viral with information that Treaty Energy had struck black gold or Texas tea in Beverly Hillbilly proportions. But like the defunct sitcom from the eighties, it seems that it was all just a badly written script. The news articles quoted Andrew Reid, co-chief executive chairman of Treaty Energy who claimed that the they have found about six million barrels of untapped oil near Independence Village in the Stann Creek District. Today the Prime Minister said that it’s simply not true. And as a matter of fact, the Chief Geologist couldn’t find a wet rock.
Dean Barrow
“Mr. Cho, our Chief Geologist, Chief Head of the Petroleum Department tells me that his people went down to the place of this supposed oil find and that I am trying to put it as kindly as I can; that his department is absolutely unable to confirm that there has any such find. I don’t want to be unkind, but I think I would have to agree with you; the department and the minister mean to do something about what at this juncture appears to be a false claim or a false report. You have to start to wonder if these people do this so they can talk up their share price because I think it might be a local subsidiary of a foreign company with the same name. You have to wonder if it is a way to try attract more financing. But as of now, the department feels that the claim is false; in any case, you don’t announce to the world that you have made a find without first having the petroleum department confirm what it is that you wish to claim and you certainly don’t—being a complete non expert, but based on what Mister Cho tells me—you certainly don’t even if you see signs—and Mister Cho say he noh; man the rock no even feel wet to him with rain—even if you find a little something, you don’t start telling people about six million barrels. From what Mister Cho tells me, there is no way in the world you can properly and legitimately be making that sort of an estimate. So it doesn’t appear to us, and I believe the deputy can confirm this; that this claim is entirely without merit.”
Something funny is going on here!!! Somebody is not being honest…..
Even funnier…what does your average Bleizean know about the Beverly Hillbillys?
Hmmm same thing I am thinking Charlie,
This cant b right. Are they waiting till afta elections to come back and say yes there is oil? Is Cho being paid hefty money to do mischief? Afta elections PUP needs to check out dem fellas good fi see if deh dah mischief makers. We no need demya kind a so called petroleum explorers making false alarm. Dey no seem to know what dey are doing. Or I go back to my first thinking, something no seems right here. In any case if there is no oil then d explorers are learning and question is, HOW COME THEY GOT A LICENSE? HMMMMMMM SOMETHNG NO RITE.
Think about it indeed. Would a NYSE listed company post a blatant hoax on their website and risk serious securities fraud repercussions? Yeah right. Let’s not be gullible folks.
All them want to do is tell lie to the people and then start up something new all over again without anyone knowing till it’s too late
TO THE LAUGHING HYENA THESE CORPORATIONS WHETHER THEY BE A NYSE CORP ARE THE BIGGEST LIARS AND TRAITORS AROUND
@Just Sayin, I don’t disagree with u, but they wouldn’t be so amateurish about it. That’s all I’m sayin. Dont be so gullible.
Charlie PRice, I take offense to the comment that Belizeans don’t know bout Beverly Hillbillies. Well Doggie, if there aint no black gold, then they can’t make claims about here
Anything new about the oil?
Treaty Energy has done a multitude to locate and develop Oil in Belize. Belizeans need oil to get the country out of debt and bring jobs to the area. Responsible drilling is the way it will be done and Treaty has been nothing but responsible. Also, Treaty is a public company and open to anyone to join in the success…Embrace the one thing that can turn Belize from Poverty to Prosperity…….OIL
