Arrests made in Ladyville robbery, city shooting
It was only matter of time before police would have made an arrest in the case of two young men who stole over forty thousand dollars from the Esso Gas Station in Ladyville. Two days after the early morning heist Belize City police have charged their main suspects. Today, eighteen year old Akeem Gotoy and twenty-three year old Evan Neal, both residents of the old capital, were arraigned in Magistrates’ Court for Robbery. Police would not discuss the specifics of the case but News Five understands that after the accused were taken into custody, Gotoy and Neal led police to some of the stolen loot. The cash, a total of fifteen thousand dollars, was found inside an undisclosed Belize City residence. The crime was captured on the gas station’s security cameras and that proved helpful in making the arrest. Initially police believed the hold-up may have been the result of an inside job but they now say there is no evidence to support that suspicion.
Also arrested today was a suspect in a Saturday night shooting in Belize City. Twenty-one year old Carlton Tasher of Freedom Street has been charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm in connection with the shooting of Jason Gentle.
