Attempted Murder of Rodwell Williams case adjourned again
Another adjournment was today granted by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin in the high profile case of attorney Rodwell Williams, who was shot near the parking lot of his law firm, Barrow & Williams, in June 2010. This morning the two accused men, Akeem Thurton and Ricky Valencia, appeared in the Supreme Court where Thurton’s mother requested more time to secure legal counsel for him. Valencia, on the other hand, was represented by attorney Arthur Saldivar. This is the second adjournment since Monday when the case was set to begin. It appears that Thurton’s family is having difficulties obtaining an attorney despite their concern that if convicted he can serve a minimum of eighteen years in jail. In court, Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl-Lynn Vidal asked for consideration due to a busy calendar when the Court of Appeal resumes in mid-March. The case is scheduled to resume on February twenty-seventh.
I THOUGHT “STREET JUSTICE” TOOK CARE OF THIS ALREADY.
