And one Minister who we won’t be following on the campaign trail for this election is Carlos Perdomo, Minister of Defence & Immigration. Perdomo, last year, stepped down from Caribbean Shores and was replaced by Santino Castillo. On Friday News Five spoke with Perdomo where he shared some of his achievements and told us that although he’s not going to be in mainstream politics, he will still be around.

“One of the most important things that we have accomplished is to maintain our partnership with our international partners because they are very critical in helping us to professionalize the force, in giving us opportunities to study abroad, in giving us opportunities to look at different armed forces how they work. And u know presently, we have officers who are studying in the UK, Canada, U.S, Mexico and junior officers course in Salvador, Guyana, Jamaica. So this has always been an accomplishment that I have maintained from the past but I have expanded in this term.”

“Being here today, celebrating this major achievement with the B.D.F., is it emotional for you, knowing that you won’t be back here again in the upcoming years in the capacity as Minister?”

“I feel happy, I don’t feel sad, so it’s not that type of emotion and in my life I have moved around changing different type of things. I was teacher, then I went to Permanent Secretary, then I went back to teaching and I was president of SJC, I’m a Minister. I will always be active. I don’t know about the word retirement yet, but I’m a Public Servant so I will be around.”
After Perdomo stepped down, the P.U.P.’s Anthony Mahler also withdrew, giving way to the candidacy of Ophthalmologist, David Hoy.
Thanks for serving Mr. Perdomo, I think you made the right decision by stepping down before you get your integrity tainted by all the negativities surrounding the UDP government. I personally separated myself from this Party after the first year of office, when I observe that Dean was failing some of his disciples and our country. In my opinion, he destroyed the party and then our country worse than it ever was before. Our Mayor and Councillors in Dangriga work ttheir butts off with little or no assistance from Belmopan and it was quite obvious that our flakey Area Reps didn’t give two Coconut husk about us. I sympathise with with the ones that wanted only the best for our country but were failed by our leader.
Worse minister of defense in the history of Belize nothing but corruption corruption since he has been minister of defense the only minister of defense who spent his time as minister of defense hiding under his bed useless good riddance now only bald head barrow left.

I can never forget this bonehead. He teached History at ST. John’s College and once pointed out to everyone in class that people from Benque like eating beans a lot…then turns around to me and said that he did not want to embarass me in front of everyone, but it was a fact. At the time I was 14 and did not have the courage to tell this idiot that he, being Belizean eats Rice&Beans a lot, therefore, he must eat tons of beans too. He has “Snake” written all over his face. I would NEVER vote for him and he is actually doing Belize good by not running for office anymore. As Mr. earl Grey pointed out, he did NOT do anything to lower crime…NOTHING.

what accomplishments??? This man has wrecked our country, sold our patrimony and caused shame for his party. That’s why he’s not running.
I want to ask, what has the PUP done, they cannot win only on criticizing can get them in. What record can they show on what they have done. The million dollars of burrowing doesn’t demonstrate anything, it just shows that you can have pretty things but at the expense of being indebted, anyone can try to show work by getting the finance burrowed. PUP can only show that they were good spenders and bad administrators, made money role but selling your soul to the banks.
