Cardona lashes out on U.D.P. nepotism and cronyism

Cardona, in quoting PM Dean Barrow prior to taking office in 2008, recalled that the U.D.P.’s position on nepotism and corruption was one of zero tolerance; however, he said, Barrow has since reneged on that commitment to the people of Belize. Cardona then went on to cite numerous instances of purported nepotism and cronyism within the Barrow Administration, involving the prime minister’s family.

“The Prime Minister Dean Oliver Barrow now boldly and quite conveniently asserts (as Prime Minister) that he does not believe that nepotism is or refers to favoring one’s family members or relatives. And so is awarding of millions upon millions of tax-payers dollars in legal services to the Prime Minister’s ex-wife Lois Young Barrow and brother Denys Barrow, when there are other equally competent, if not more competent local attorneys who could do the job, not a blatant act of “corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow? And so is the awarding of lucrative oil contracts to the Prime Minister’s nephew, Kimano Barrow, to allow him and his family to benefit from the oil bonanza in Belize, not another blatant act of “public corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow? And so is the appointing of the Prime Minister’s Ex-wife Lois Young Barrow and his twenty-seven year old son, Anwar Barrow to the lucrative B.T.L. Board of Directors, following B.T.L.’s takeover by the Government of Belize in 2009, not another blatant act of “public corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow ladies and gentlemen? And so is the appointing of the Prime Minister’s twenty-seven year old son, Anwar Barrow, as a temporary member of the Belize Senate, not another blatant act of “public corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow? And so is the awarding of the lucrative National Boledo and Lottery Contract to a joint venture business between Brad’s and the Prime Minister’s twenty-seven year old son, Anwar Barrow, not another blatant act of “public corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow? And so is the retention and rewarding of his close friend, confidant, and close relative or family member of Prime Minister Dean Barrow, being the current NICH President, following the discovery of what may well be classified as her “secret sweetheart deal” with a private investor over an exclusive and lucrative 10-year contract renewable for or to another ten years, over rights over the No’hoch Che’ En Archaeological Site at Cave’s Branch, not another blatant act of “public corruption” and “nepotism” on the part of Mr. Anti-Corruption, Prime Minister Dean Barrow?”

If you wreck that car, no problem, the government buys you a new one, Where those new wrecked cars go, nobody knows, but they have good new parts. The history of politics are based on cronyism and nepotism in Belize, instead of meritocracy. It is a system that feeds of corruption.

Even though jobs are hard to find in Belize when Musa and corporation takes office again everyone against him will be replace with Musa family and friends again, the circle of corruption.

Typical belizean always moved by the masses. When ever someone makes a bold step in naming out its discontent to a government ina civil manner we just laugh & call him/her crazy. We need violence & destruction to open our eyes and see that we are heading down hill yep thats what Belizeans want. Im no die hard party fantanatic but we have a lot of them out there. And every Belizean has the right to go and vote for whom they want. But just think about this days there is no middle-class. We only have poor & some what if you are fortunate high-class. Cardona needs to realize that it is not the government’s fault he got beat so badly in his constituent. Stop blaming your faults on other people and take responsibility for your actions or lack there of. Did he really need to hold a press conference to rant about the government, then as usual back down. The Belizean people are glad and relieved that we won’t be seeing his face in government any more. He didn’t want to get embarrassed in the general election, thats why he stepped down.

The PUP borrowed over a billion dollars in ten years and we haven’t started to feel the grip yet. So if you find it hard right now wait…soon we will ALL feel the effects. The same for UDP look at the millions disappearing, look at dictatorship in the making . We are just caged people who don’t know what direction to take. The educated ones will know exactly what to do in a few…flee. this election is the most unpredictable, it’s hard for those who know what’s going on.
The real issue here is to PIN THE DONKEY TAIL on election day Belizean, and make sure you do it right!! We don’t want any complaining afterwards. make sure you ministers have them wallets full in case the jobs you want to see get done are not being done in time or the way you want it! It seems that certain people are contented with the KHMH scandals, the SSB write off of debt already paid, exorbitant spending on legal fees to fight the nationalization of BTL & BEL, the dreadful 9th amendment, among other nepotism acts of scandals, whilst criticizing Marcel for standing against corruption and nepotism. It’s not sour grapes; why you want to shut up Marcel? Why you want Marcel to remember the past? Marcel is living the present. Musa has paid his price, that is why his government lost big. I encourage Marcel to be vigilant of the present.
