U.D.P. Benque Don Jorge switches party

Just last week, you saw Marcel Cardona on national TV endorsing the P.U.P.’s Marco Tulio Mendez for the Orange Walk East Constituency. Well, it seems there is another U.D.P. who is rallying behind the P.U.P. in the Western Town of Benque Viejo. Don Jorge Iglesias is a two-time elected U.D.P. Councilor but he is dissatisfied with a number of things happening inside his camp and has since thrown his support behind P.U.P.’s Mayoral Candidate Francisco Trinidad Mendez in Benque. Mendez told News Five via phone, that this latest move is welcomed by his party.

“For us it’s, we welcome everybody; the P.U.P. is a party that welcomes everyone. We don’t chase away anyone, but we welcome. Mr. Jorge has his causes and I guess now he realizes that the P.U.P. Party is the party to support. Hence the reason why he is supporting us.”

“So with Mister Iglesias throwing his support behind the P.U.P., what exactly are we looking at? Is he may be taking away potential voters for the U.D.P.? Does he have a huge following? What exactly is he bringing to the P.U.P.?”

“Actually he is bringing leadership as well. He is bringing a lot of his supporters. He has roughly around six hundred supporters and in his convention he had a voting—if we look at it, he got around four hundred votes without any cash on hand. Mister Velasquez was supported by Minister Erwin with around hundred thousand dollars or less but right around there. And without money, he basically garnered four hundred votes. So we are looking at a person who has talent, leadership and with him, he brings all these people.”

“They have done that actually. Benque is silent, but waiting for the seventh of March. It’s going to be pretty the seventh of March because it is going to be a quick sudden death for the U.D.P. here in Benque.”
I think Mendez is not saying the truth, Mr. Iglesias has his own agenda. It is important that people shift because we want the rotten eggs to move to the blue party, the UDP is being cleaned.
Thankyou so much for leaving us, Mr. Mendez. We were sick and tired of you, and we feel good that is obvious that only PUP accepts ANYbody, even if it’s corrupt and garbage. Good luck, you’ll be suffering from starvation soon.
Kindly check if Mr. Jorge Iglesias has Salvadorean passport. I guess he is looking at his own interest and not that of the PUP.

The reason why Jorge Iglesias switched sides is because he lost the convention for mayoral candidate for the United Democratic Party against Mr Velasquez. Benqueños lets be real how can we have a person that doesn´t speak any English represent us in this day and age. He has been living here in Belize for years and he needs a translator to speak to the media. As a mayor he will not just have to reprsent us, he represents the people and country of Belize at international conferences that are more common know a days.
He is not as genuine as we taught he was.
But the PUP has nothing else to rally on, come March 7th your United Democratic Party will be victourious once again in Cayo West…….. guaranteed.
