Cab driver stabbed over a dozen times

Now to crime news; a taxi operator was viciously murdered inside his cab over the weekend. Before mid-night on Saturday, he was found with close to fifteen stab wounds inside his vehicle in the vicinity of Lacroix Boulevard. Police still haven’t been able to determine a cause for the latest homicide, although it doesn’t appear to be robbery. News Five’s Andrea Polanco has more on this latest killing.

The brutally stabbed body of fifty-two year old Alexander Montero was discovered inside his taxi shortly after eleven on Saturday night. Police found Montero’s lifeless body inside his car parked here in this empty lot near the riverside in the St. Martin’s area:

“Just after about eleven o’clock where they saw a blue civic Honda car in an empty lot and upon looking at it they found the lifeless body of Alexander Montero with multiple stab wounds to his body. So far, police have not detained anybody regarding this incident.”

And while investigations are ongoing, the Montero family is still grappling with questions, as to why someone would savagely kill their loved one. He was stabbed multiple times, to the face, shoulders, left side of the chest and both hands, in excess of twelve times. The blood covered driver’s seat and floor, indicate that he was murdered whilst sitting inside. Blood splattered across the windshield and small blotches are visible on perimeter of the vehicle. His son says he was last seen alive around ten that night:

“I know he was last seen about ten o’clock the night. I heard he was seen at the hospital doing a job because he was a taxi driver.”

“Are you or other family members aware of any problems that your father had? Enemies with anybody—anybody that would want to kill him?”

“No, I don’t know of any because he wasn’t that kind of person—having any kind of altercation out there with anyone. So I don’t know of any. None of my family members know of any. And anyone that I talk to, we don’t know of anything that he had with anyone.”

“You guys don’t have any speculation at this time as to what could have caused his death?”

“I am not sure. Ti was a shock to me and my family. We don’t know why something like that would have happened. I spoke to him the morning before he was killed and he was talking to me good. So I don’t know why. I have no idea why.”

But inside, Montero’s personal belongings were still intact, which makes robbery a distant motive:

“So any of his personal belonging were missing?”

“No it was reported that he still had his wallet and cell phone and other personal things that was on him.”

“No motive has been established as yet and as you mentioned, I have heard as well that he was not robbed.”

Although police have no motive or suspects, the family is still hoping they will get answers:

“I am looking for the police to do what they need to do to get some kind of conviction in the case because it’s a brutal murder. It is something that they did to him that I’m not sure if the person that did that has any heart. I don’t really have any other information on it. I am shock too. I am waiting for the police to give me any kind of information and closure to the case or so.”
