Move over GSU, GST Unit busts tax dodgers

A businessman was also found guilty this morning, but for unpaid general sales tax. Phillip Waight of CSVW Engineering and Construction Company was to appear before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer on eleven counts of Failure to File GST Returns for the period of December 2010 to October 2011. But Waight was not present this morning and a representative told the court that attempts to locate him were unsuccessful. Notwithstanding, Senior Magistrate Frazer imposed a fine of five hundred dollars for each count, which adds up to five thousand, five hundred dollars. Waight has until April thirtieth to pay the fine or he will spend eleven months in prison.

Another GST case was before the court today and the defendant, Therese Parkey was also a no show. But she missed out on some good news because GST personnel withdrew the charge against her company Hugh Parkey/Belize Dive Connection, which owed over three hundred thousand dollars when the outstanding GST was combined with interest and penalties. The taxes accumulated over twenty-two months of missed payments between 2009 and 2011. But today’s withdrawal came because Parkey and the GST Department were able to reach an agreement and decided to settle out of court after payment of a significant portion of the amount owed.

This is despicable- he is in charge of building permits and forcing others to stop their construction projects and in other words – to obey the law and then he does not? What a hypocrite whose time has come- ih to chancy so good fo ahm

  2. lino says:

This arrogant ….. thinks he knows everything and only know how not to pay his taxes-always legally extorting developers using his appointed office of Central building authority and stop orders and he thinks fellow engineers don’t know that he uses CBA fees to buy expensive printing and drafting equipment that finds its way to his same personal office for which he pays no taxes but gives him an unfair advantage over his competition. He should be stripped like Merlene Bailey when they do wrong.

  3. Jimmy Criminal says:

We are punished by the government and the GeSTapo tax man for working, running a business and giving others jobs to feed their family.
This is what discourages many from opening a business and turning to a life of crime instead.
The drug dealers no pay no tax, the theif no pay no tax, prositute no pay no tax, preachers no pay no tax.
That is why there is so much crime because it is an easier life if you do not have to deal with the Tax Man.

  4. concerned says:
