UK Story of Alleged Teen rapes in Belize

Two UK women are suing their school for an alleged rape that occurred during a character building trip to Belize back in 2005. The women are claiming substantial damages from the school in Kent County, England, saying that not enough was done to protect their safety. The girls were ages fifteen and sixteen when they the school brought them to Belize and they were staying on an isolated farm where they were to learn self-reliance and independence. But according to the alleged rape victims, the son of the farm owner gave them rum and flirted with a group of them at a local bar. One of the complainants claimed that the man drove them back to the farm and later strayed into their cabin and raped them while their teachers slept. But the school’s barrister, John Norman has submitted that the cabin was fitted with locks and the teachers were a mere fifteen meters away, which was close enough to hear any screams for help. He also suggested that girls invited the man into their cabin where they continued drinking and playing adult games. The following day, the teens claimed to have been raped and Belize police and the British High Commission were alerted.
