Who torched Politician Dr. Smith’s car?

It’s down to the last leg of campaigning before the elections on March seventh. There has been the usual mudslinging between the political parties on the airwaves and vandalism of street signs. But it appears that the political rivalry has gone too far and has become dangerous. On Tuesday night, the vehicle of the P.U.P. Pickstock standard bearer was set on fire at a gas station. According to police reports, witnesses saw a green vehicle with no license plates parked next to Dr. Francis Smith’s Mercedes Benz at the New Road gas station shortly before it went up in flames. The green vehicle then sped off toward Douglas Jones Street. Dr. Smith told News Five today that while burning his vehicle over an election is bad enough, it is pure stupidity to start a fire at a gas station.

“Last night at around twelve, I would say, I was called by the lady who works with me on the campaign, Ms. Carla Young. She told me that my vehicle was on fire. So I came out and I saw the staff from the Fire Department putting out flames along with the officers from the CIB.”

“Clearly this is a case of arson?”

Dr. Francis Smith

“Oh yes. There were witnesses around who saw a car come by. The car parked next to my vehicle and they said someone came out and—I’m not sure of the details but definitely it’s a case of arson.”

“Was it a regular thing during your campaign for the vehicle to be left out here?”

Dr. Francis Smith

“Well at times because this is where Ms. Young lives. So she would leave it along where the other vehicles are parked. It wasn’t usually left at this spot so near to the streets; we would usually leave it under the canopy there where the cameras are with Mr. Guerra’s permission. But last night well, it was parked there on the side and that’s what occurred.”

“Was the car parked in a position where it could have caused further danger? I mean this is a gas station.”

“It was, absolutely. In a gas station it’s prohibited to light your cigarette and you should even be using your cell phones because these things trigger a fire because there are fumes. This car was parked virtually over the tanks so this was absolute stupidity for someone to set that car on fire.”
