City shootings leave two in hospital
While cops in Corozal try to solve a murder, Belize City officers have a pair of shootings to deal with. Around one-thirty this morning twenty-four year old Ernest Sarcasa was standing by the Enterprise Club on Queen Charlotte Street when a man he claims not to know fired several shots at him. Sarcasa received wounds to his wrist and hip and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He has told police he does not know why he was targeted.
The other shooting occurred in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday. Thirty-seven year old Roslyn Flowers reported to police that she was at her home at 137 Neal Pen Road sleeping when around three-twenty she was awakened by the sound of gunshots and a burning sensation to her buttocks. She soon realised that she had been shot three times. The data entry clerk was admitted to the K.H.M.H. in a stable condition. Police have since recovered two expended nine millimetre shells from the scene and are investigating, but do not believe Flowers was the intended target.
