Giant of nursing profession passes at 73
A giant in Belize’s nursing profession has died. Delsyia Goff, former Principal Nursing Officer and long-time health activist, was found dead this morning apparently of natural causes at her home on Baymen Avenue. She was seventy-three years old. Goff became a registered nurse in 1954 and rose steadily through the ranks. Following her retirement from government service in 1988 she continued to serve on advisory bodies as well as donate much of her time to the Belize Red Cross. On May thirtieth, Goff was honoured with the Florence Nightingale Medal, the highest honour given by the International Red Cross to members of the nursing profession. Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at two at Wesley Church on Albert Street.
